Summary

DIRECTOR EPIC RESEARCH

Position Highlights:

The Director, Epic Research leads the design, implementation, management, and ongoing optimization of research functions within the Epic system in support of Moffitt's research workflow and initiatives. This leader will have oversight for integrating the Epic modules and features to support research administration, clinical trials management, streamline workflows, and enhance the research experience within the organization. They will work closely with research staff clinical staff, IT professionals, and key stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Manage the technical Epic research team, including recruitment, performance, and professional development Collaborate with clinical research, operational, and IT stakeholders to design and implement workflows. Evaluate team member progress, especially direct reports, and provide regular feedback. Hold team members accountable for meeting standards, timely completion of deliverables, customer services, and user satisfaction, making staffing changes as appropriate. Serve as escalation point for issues and change requests, ensuring timely resolution. Manage and mentor team, monitor budgets, enforce service delivery, and ensure system performance/uptime. Manage the operational and capital budgets for Epic systems and adjacent systems that support research Support governance, manage vendor relations, and ensure adherent to standards and policies. Ensures appropriate systems meet regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA, CMS, ONC, and stat-specific guidelines. Actively engage and oversee teams in support of Epic deployments, upgrades, optimization projects and integration initiatives. Lead change management efforts to ensure adoption of new EHR functionalities, related to research in support of ongoing optimizations. Drive enhancements in workflow, quality, safety, cost-efficiency, and user satisfaction. Defines and monitors KPIs for system adoption, satisfaction, system uptime, and operational efficiency, ensuring that EHR optimizations align with strategi priorities. Continuously stays abreast of new developments in EHR products, both Epic and those to integrate and complement the EHR. Functions as an expert in both the implementation and effective use of EHR technology. Own relationships with outside vendors to ensure adherence to contractual obligations such as SLAs and KPIs.

Credentials and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science or Healthcare Administration Minimum 10 years in healthcare IT, with 8+ years of experience with Epic Minimum 5 years of leadership experience

Preferred Experience

Strong systems implementation and integration experience. Epic certifications in relevant modules preferred Deep domain knowledge of Epic research modules inclusive of Beacon.
