SPRING PLAY TECHNICAL DIRECTOR CLASSIFICATION: Stipend Position SUMMARY The Spring Play Technical Director assists the Play Director in producing a quality show for the kids. This includes technology (audio and lighting)needs and set design/construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
be available on a flexible schedule from mid-March to May 1, 2025
be present at all critical rehearsals and show performances (Tech Week)
work cooperatively with the play director and play costumer to create a unified creative vision for the show
meet timelines with set construction and other critical tasks
design and build play set in collaboration with the director’s vision
purchase/procure set materials and props
set lights as needed
run a basic microphone system off an iPad
supervise and manage student tech crew during work days and the student running crew for shows
coordinate technical aspects of play performance (set, lights, sound, props)
work within designated budget and protocol from school administration and play director
work with middle school children patiently
possess a collaborative approach to the theatre process
be reliable
have good communication skills
SKILLS/ABILITIES
able to design and construct a safe set for students
?able to manage technology needs for a quality show
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE experience with prior productions is preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and walking
Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 15 lbs.
