Job Summary/Description:

WEAU in beautiful Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is hiring dynamic, deadline-driven Multimedia Journalists who want to make a difference. We are the dominant news organization in an active market with plenty of weather and local news. We want journalists who are passionate about delivering viewer-focused stories and newscasts. You will join a collaborative newsroom that mentors, trains, and coaches you. We are dedicated to building and maintaining trust with our audiences by making sure we are always accurate, transparent, and without bias.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Enterprise, pitch, and develop original story ideas that serve the station's audience and editorial priorities. • Report, shoot, and edit video for daily newscasts, digital platforms, and social media. • Write clear, accurate, and engaging scripts for broadcast and digital in AP style. • Conduct interviews, gather facts, verify information, and maintain ethical newsgathering standards. • Appear on camera for live shots, packages, and digital explainers. • Post stories, videos, and updates to the station website and social platforms with audience-focused framing. • Collaborate with producers, editors, and newsroom leadership to ensure accuracy, context, and no bias. • Maintain and operate station equipment, including cameras, lighting, microphones, and editing software. • Monitor scanners and respond quickly to breaking news, often working solo in the field. • Build and maintain community contacts to support ongoing coverage and enterprise reporting. • Commit to digital-first storytelling, including vertical video and social-native formats. • Produce newscasts as needed.

*This role requires working in all weather conditions, carrying equipment, driving to assignments, and adapting quickly to breaking news. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.*

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. • Strong writing, shooting, and editing skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines. • Comfortable with live reporting and on-camera presentation. • Knowledge of newsroom ethics, public records, and verification practices. • Proficiency with editing software. • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
