This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!**Description of Work**Reporting directly to the Associate Warden of Programs at a multi-custody male correctional facility, this position has the responsibility to manage and provide supervision for various treatments, case management, and activity programs in the Programs Department. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Providing supervision to subordinate staff and assigning duties and directing staff in carrying out the functions required in the operation of major treatment and activity area.
2. This position is differentiated from the Correctional Programs Director I due to added scope and complexities when it is used in a statewide program.
3. Monitoring the following programs: Case Management (Entire population will have an assigned Case manager), Recreation/Leisure Activities (The entire population will have access to these programs.), Community Volunteer, Incentive Wage/Work Assignments, Specialized Treatment Programs, Substance Abuse, Cognitive Behavior Intervention, Parenting Programs, Napoleon Hill, Character Education, & Anger Management.
4. Working effectively with community groups and utilizing knowledge of community resources.
(Salary Range: $47,703 - $83,479)**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences****Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now must meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the "Minimum Education and Experience" listed from the OSHR class specification as seen in the next section below. It serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders. It also houses special populations, including death row and safe-keepers.While security requires that certain offenders remain in their cells, there are more than 260 offender job assignments that include working in the kitchen, laundry or canteen. Offenders also work as barbers, janitors and clerks.
