A mid‑level vehicle technician provides high‑quality vehicle maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles. The technician delivers exceptional service to customers while controlling costs, working independently or as part of a team.
Specialization This technician must specialize in European OEMs, with hyper‑specialization in Audi and Volkswagen.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspect vehicles for mechanical deficiencies.
Execute complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, and fabrication.
Perform repairs and maintenance based on certification level, including OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune‑ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, state safety inspections, interior/exterior components, engine and drivetrain components, etc.
Maintain or repair equipment (e.g., cable trailers, laptop docking stations).
Keep shop area clean, tidy, and compliant with safety standards; dispose of fluids safely in accordance with regulations.
Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records; upsell new vehicles with necessary equipment.
Ensure availability of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic, generator, electrical, hybrid, and onboard computer systems.
Provide custom equipment as needed through equipment design and moderate fabrication tasks, including welding.
Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs to assure prompt repairs; may provide roadside assistance as needed.
Qualifications Minimum
High school diploma or GED (or 3+ years of related vehicle service experience).
3+ years of vehicle service and repair experience.
Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Preferred
Continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status and address technology and fleet changes as they occur.
Require some A.S.E. Automotive or Truck Certification or other related certifications.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, climb, and tolerate excess noise levels, car exhaust, and outdoor weather conditions.
Vision requirements: close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Compensation Hourly base pay rate is $22.02 – $33.08 per hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Benefits Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
