Position Overview JLRD is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support mechanical system design and documentation for Education, Government & Public Institutions, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Transportation & Aviation Infrastructure, Industrial, Utilities & Infrastructure, Hospitality, Leisure & Destination Properties, Commercial & Mixed-Use, and Residential Facilities.
This role is ideal for an experienced designer who brings strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of mechanical systems—without requiring an engineering degree.
The position is in-office at JLRD’s West Palm Beach headquarters and reports to licensed engineers.
Key Responsibilities Prepare mechanical drawings and documentation for systems, including but not limited to:HVAC air and hydronic systems, Equipment layouts and schedules, Ductwork and piping systems, Controls coordination drawings Develop design layouts, sections, schedules, and details Coordinate drawings with other disciplines to support constructability and clarity Assistwith code research and system layouts under engineer direction Support construction administration tasks with drawing revisions Maintain drawing standards and adhere to internal QA/QC procedures Incorporate markups and revisions efficiently and accurately
Qualifications Technical or design background in mechanical systems; engineering degree preferred but notrequired Experience supporting mechanical design for complex facilities across the sectors listed above Familiarity with applicable mechanical codes and standards Proficiencyin Revit and AutoCAD Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in an in-office setting
