
Job Type: Full-time Logistics Pricing Specialist
The Logistics Pricing Specialist will be responsible for building a strong relationship with carriers and shipping lines and leading pricing negotiations with current and potential clients, with the goal of increasing volumes, profits and keeping cost at a minimum level.
Responsibilities
Negotiate and coordinate spot rates and/or quotations for LCL, FCL, air shipments and all services within our client’s database.
Display a thorough understanding of industry-related terminology and processes.
Strategize ways of increasing profit margins while keeping cost at a minimum.
Assist the sales team with business development and securing new business initiatives.
Work closely with operations on a day-to-day basis.
Keep abreast of the freight worldwide market and provide the information to all parties.
Communicate with management on pricing desk performance and any issues that arise.
Follow up on quotations as needed and communicate the positive or negative feedback in respect of being able to source a competitive rate to support the closure of all business opportunities.
Manage the login of all quotes and follow up into our client’s proprietary CRM.
Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information.
Data entry in Cargo Wise system as required.
Perform other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by management.
Understand clients’ needs in order to strategize the costing and/or pricing.
Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; college degree is a plus.
A minimum of 5 years of supply chain experience in the freight forwarding industry with proven records.
Must have a comprehensive understanding of selling principles.
Must have experience in air and ocean freight pricing.
Experience working with Cargo Wise is a plus.
Knowledge of local air and ocean freight operations, rules and regulations.
Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to resolve conflicts in a professional and urgent manner.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete projects within an assigned deadline.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
Must be detail-oriented with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
Ability to identify issues and act with a sense of urgency to resolve them.
Must be computer savvy and proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be a team player and able to work independently.
Must be flexible in working overtime as needed.
