Overview GovCIO is currently hiringa motivated, detail-oriented Junior IT/Security Analyst to support the IT team in protecting systems, networks, and institutional data. This role is ideal for candidates starting their careers in IT/cybersecurity, including those transitioning from non-technical backgrounds.This position will be located in Arlington. VA and will be a hybrid position.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities

Assist with basic IT support tasks (user accounts, password resets, system access).

Monitor security alerts and escape issues to senior team members.

Support vulnerability scanning and documentation efforts.

Help maintain IT and security documentation, policies, and procedures.

Participate in security awareness initiatives and training programs.

Support the deployment and oversight of security solutions such as endpoint protection, privileged user management, cloud security controls, and network monitoring systems.

Document incidents, findings, and resolutions clearly and accurately.

Support the preparation and maintenance of audits and compliance documentation, and activities as needed.

Assist with adherence to government IT /policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications High School with 0 - 3 years cybersecurity (or commensurate experience)

What We’re Looking For We are open to candidates who demonstrate:

Strong interest in IT or cybersecurity

Currently studying or recently completed a certificate/course in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or the Computer Science field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Analytical and critical thinking ability.

Attention to detail and organization skills.

Ability to follow processes and document clearly.

Willingness to ask questions and learn continuously.

Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, general system navigation).

Nice to Have (Not Required)

Completion of online IT/cyber courses (e.g., CompTIA ITF+, Security+, Google IT Support, etc.)

Familiarity with basic concepts like networks, operating systems, or cybersecurity threats

Participation in labs (TryHackMe, Hack The Box, home lab setups)

Understanding of phishing, malware, or common cyber risks

Any customer service, administrative, or research experience

Posted Pay Range The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range USD $50,000.00 - USD $70,000.00 /Yr.
