Position Description POSITION TITLE: Assistant Athletic Director – Jefferson High School REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Athletic Director PRIMARY FUNCTION: Serve as a member of the building administrative team and assist in the leadership, coordination, and daily operation of the Jefferson High School athletic department. The Assistant Athletic Director supports the Athletic Director in ensuring that all athletic programs are conducted in a manner that is competitive, educationally sound, sportsmanlike, and representative of Jefferson High School, the Lafayette School Corporation, and the Lafayette community. The Assistant Athletic Director also fulfills assigned building-level administrative duties to support overall school operations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Athletic Director will be assigned a portfolio of sports and operational areas based on the strengths and experiences of the selected candidate, in addition to building-level administrative duties assigned by the principal. Specific responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following, and may be adjusted annually as needed.

Leadership and Management
Assist in leading and managing the overall operations of the athletic department.

Serve as the athletic administrator on duty for assigned events.
Supervise event personnel, including ticketing, concessions, security, hospitality, and game operations.
Manage athletic department rental requests and facility-use agreements.
Complete teacher evaluations and other administrative duties as assigned by the principal.
Provide before- and after-school supervision and lunchroom supervision as assigned.
Serve as a member of the building-level Leadership Team and attend associated meetings.
Assist with state-required safety drills, including lockdown, fire, and severe weather drills.
Provide administrative assistance in the main office as needed in the absence of administrative personnel.
Provide administrative support at commencement and other major school events.
Program Support and Event Operations
Assist in organizing and administering components of the overall athletic program.
Manage concessions for athletic events, including ordering, staffing, and budgeting.
Prepare game information sheets and assist with operational planning for home contests.
Lead gameday facility setup and contest preparation.
Supervise home contests and address operational issues related to safety, sportsmanship, and crowd management.
Work with transportation services to coordinate travel logistics for away contests.
Scheduling, Contracts, and Logistics
Support scheduling and contest contract systems, including Eventlink, FinalForms, conference, and IHSAA platforms.
Coordinate facility usage, practice schedules, and event logistics.
Serve as liaison between the athletic department and custodial/maintenance departments, including work order coordination.
Compliance, Eligibility, and Student-Athlete Welfare
Assist in monitoring compliance with IHSAA rules and eligibility procedures.
Support Emergency Action Plan (EAP) readiness and implementation.
Lead student-athlete Athletic Code of Conduct appeals.
Coordinate student leadership opportunities within athletic programming.
Communication and Community Relations
Communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, families, officials, and community partners.
Collaborate with booster clubs and community partners to support fundraising and program development.
Assist with parent meetings, coach meetings, and student-athlete recognition events.
Support college signing events, scholarship nominations, and hosted tournaments.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Education:
A Master's degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field is required.
Experience:
Successful experience coaching and/or assisting in athletic administration is preferred.
Experience in high school-level athletics is preferred.
Three years of teaching experience is preferred.
Certifications:
Valid Indiana administrative license is required.
Valid Indiana teaching license is preferred.
Knowledge:
Understanding of Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) rules, bylaws, eligibility requirements, and reporting procedures.
Understanding of district policies, student codes of conduct, and Title IX requirements related to athletics.
Understanding of athletic event operations, scheduling systems, facility coordination, and officiating procedures.
Understanding of athletic budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and risk management practices.
Understanding of student-athlete health, safety, and emergency response protocols.
Understanding of athletics-related technology platforms, including scheduling, ticketing, eligibility, scoring, and communication systems.
