
Responsibilities
The Phlebotomist III‑Float represents the face of our company to patients who come to us, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life‑defining health decisions.
Draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
Has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.
Provides coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles.
Ensures daily activities of the Patient Service Center, Mobile, Long‑Term Care, and In‑Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
Demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
May be assigned to work and direct daily activity in a doctor’s office, a patient service center, a house‑call environment, long‑term care, or as business needs dictate.
Can step in for a Phlebotomist III‑Float and lead one or more PSR on site; acts as coach, mentor, instructor, and resource advisor for new employees and provides effective onboarding services to new clients.
Acts as point of contact to staff on site and provides regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
May focus on working with customers who have a high‑complexity and/or volume practice with a specialized focus requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills.
Requires higher level customer‑facing skills, including verbal and written communications, problem solving, and collaboration with multiple functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics due to specialty and complex test orders.
Qualifications
Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high‑volume setting.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Five years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
Keyboard/data entry experience.
Float to cover West Hartford, Wethersfield, East Hartford, and Berlin sites between 6 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., alternating Saturdays 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Enrollment dates are each January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
Technical Certification Bonus:
Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
