Senior Estimation Specialist ! We are seeking an experienced professional who is adept at understanding customer needs, building strong relationships, and attracting new subcontractor interest. This role will require you to effectively prepare, provide, and discuss project estimates while ensuring all estimating needs are met. A deep understanding of the Construction Management process, as well as occasional ‘hard bid’ pursuits, is essential. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience with construction projects to deliver accurate estimates and produce comprehensive scopes of work. Your main responsibilities will include planning, managing, coordinating, and estimating projects, with support from other team members as needed. Key Responsibilities: Interpret specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimates. Investigate site conditions before bidding, including identifying waste areas, borrow areas, and dumpsites. Quickly identify risks and develop strategies for mitigation. Develop self-performed scopes (labor and material) when necessary and review with the General Superintendent. Analyze design options and recommend optimal solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability. Utilize historical unit price and productivity data effectively. Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis into unit and man-hour figures. Understand and determine the critical path schedule and work sequence. Evaluate value engineering options. Prepare estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of scope of work and pricing individual work items. Review terms and conditions of subcontractor and vendor quotes, serving as a liaison during the bidding process. Maintain comprehensive files of working documents as backup for estimates, ensuring accurate supplier pricing. Review all pricing with the Director of Estimating and preconstruction team. Provide technical support to other personnel preparing estimates for assigned trades. Establish budgets effectively. Participate in presentations to clients when required. Visit project sites to observe construction methods. Ensure all working documents and data are meticulously maintained. Keep up-to-date with skills for software tools and technology being utilized. Engage in project hand-off meetings and attend meetings with suppliers and subcontractors as needed. Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values, and goals. Perform additional assignments directed by the supervisor. Expected Outcomes: Timely completion of assigned estimates in a professional and competitive manner. Accurate estimates that consider risk factors and construction methods. Successful completion of projects utilizing assigned estimates, resulting in profitability. Fostering a positive company image with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Establishing strong working relationships with subcontractors while maintaining ethical standards. Essential Skills and Experience: 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience. Minimum of 10+ years of experience in estimating and cost control management. Proficient in CPM conceptual scheduling. Experience estimating a variety of projects ranging from $100,000 to $75+ million. Proficient in estimating software such as Timberline, On-Screen Take-off, Building Connected, etc. Extensive knowledge of corporate construction procedures, estimating techniques, and all related engineering disciplines. Well-versed in cost control systems and QA/QC practices. Strong math and computer skills. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
