Senior Manager / Director, Supply Chain Execution
Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. About Proper Voltage Proper Voltage is unlocking the next generation of battery technology across robotics, data centers, and defense. We're building intelligent battery systems that make advanced chemistries (sodium-ion, lithium-titanate, lithium-silicon) work in products that were never designed for them. Humanoid robots can upgrade power systems without redesigning their entire platform. Data centers get safer, cheaper backup power. Drones and autonomous vehicles get higher energy density without lengthy integration cycles. If you want to work on hard engineering problems that matter this is the place. Job Overview This is the #2 role on the supply chain team and a execution leader responsible for running day-to-day contract manufacturing and supplier execution within the strategy defined by the Head of Supply Chain.. You will run day-to-day contract manufacturing (CM) execution and drive Tier 2 sourcing and procurement across PCBA and electromechanical components. Together, we will divide and conquer across suppliers, build readiness, quoting, and launch execution to de-risk an aggressive SOP timeline and build a scalable foundation for growth. You will be trusted to operate independently with suppliers and CMs while staying tightly aligned with the Head of Supply Chain on strategy, sequencing, and major commercial commitments. Who this role is for: You have owned external manufacturing and supplier execution end-to-end and can run fast, structured, and credible supplier processes You are comfortable leading negotiations and holding vendors accountable while maintaining long-term relationship orientation You can work fluidly with engineering teams, understand electromechanical systems, and translate technical requirements into supplier actions You thrive in ambiguity and protect schedule without sacrificing long-term manufacturability This role is not a fit if: You require stable requirements and mature processes before engaging suppliers or committing schedules You are primarily an ERP/planning/process optimization leader rather than a supplier execution leader What you'll do Contract Manufacturing execution (day-to-day owner) Run day-to-day execution with contract manufacturers across schedule, build readiness, open issues, and escalation management Own the CM operating cadence: weekly calls, action registers, performance reviews, and clear internal readouts Lead key portions of CM sourcing and down-select activities: RFI/RFP issuance, bid management, quote normalization, and scorecard-driven recommendations, in partnership with the Head of Supply Chain Drive NPI execution with CMs: DFM feedback loops, build events, pilot readiness, issue triage, containment, rework plans, and corrective actions Partner closely with engineering to translate design intent into manufacturing‑ready documentation, requirements, and quality gates Commercial negotiations (lead negotiator, partnered approvals) Lead supplier and CM commercial negotiations (pricing, lead times, MOQs, tooling/NRE, payment terms, warranties where applicable) Build clean cost narratives and tradeoffs (cost vs schedule vs risk) to support decisions Use the Head of Supply Chain as an escalation partner and final‑approval point for major commitments, non‑standard terms, and long‑term agreements Tier 2 sourcing and procurement (shared initially, scaling with team growth) Partner with the Head of Supply Chain to cover Tier 2 sourcing and procurement during the early phase, with ownership split based on critical path and timing Lead RFQs, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations for assigned commodities across PCBA, mechanicals, magnetics, and related electromechanical components Drive BOM and AVL discipline: revision control, supplier change communication, approved alternates, and clean release packages Build cost transparency: cost breakdowns, tooling/NRE, lead time drivers, MOQs, and should‑cost ranges where useful Risk management and operating system Surface risks early (capacity, lead time, quality, single‑source exposure) and drive mitigation plans with engineering and ops Execute within and help refine the supplier operating system defined by the Head of Supply Chain Ensure suppliers are unblocked and accountable, especially in periods of design iteration and launch pressure Team build (as we scale) Support hiring and onboarding of future supply chain team members as the function scales Required Qualifications 10+ years in supply chain, sourcing, procurement, and/or CM operations supporting electromechanical products Strong experience with contract manufacturers and suppliers across PCBA, mechanicals, magnetics, and cells Proven ability to scale from prototype through NPI and launch, building toward multi‑thousand annual units and beyond Deep understanding of BOM control, supplier negotiation, and material cost structures (lead times, MOQs, tooling/NRE, payment terms, cost breakdowns) Skilled working with engineering teams and understanding electromechanical systems, interfaces, and test flows Ability to operate under schedule pressure with evolving designs and multiple parallel workstreams Preferred Qualifications Battery/energy storage, power electronics, robotics, UPS, or similar experience Experience supporting UL or other compliance‑driven requirements Startup experience building supply chain systems from zero Competitive cash compensation plus equity, depending on level and location. Salary range: $165,000 - $210,000 depending on location, experience, and qualifications. Company Equity Flexible PTO with a generous holiday policy Hybrid‑friendly work schedule, with travel as needed for vendor engagement Ready to work on power systems that matter? Let's talk.
