Job Summary:
The Sales Estimator for Construction Projects plays a crucial role in generating accurate and competitive cost estimates while driving sales opportunities. Key Responsibilities:
Estimate Preparation:
Review project plans, specifications, and related documentation to produce detailed cost estimates.
Perform quantity take-offs, applying suitable pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
Prepare and submit precise estimates within designated timelines.
Sales Support: Work closely with the sales team to grasp client needs and project requirements. Offer technical guidance and support during client meetings and presentations. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Client Interaction: Present and elucidate estimates to clients, addressing any queries or concerns. Assist in contract negotiations and the acquisition of new business. Follow up on submitted bids to secure sales and gather feedback for future estimates.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and assess quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for competitive pricing. Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to validate scope and cost accuracy.
Market and Competitor Analysis: Stay current on market trends, pricing, and competitor offerings to maintain competitive edge in estimates. Spot opportunities for value engineering, delivering cost-effective solutions to clients.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications in construction estimation or sales are advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in construction estimation with a strong emphasis on sales. Demonstrated ability in generating and closing sales within the construction sector.
Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities. Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and CRM tools. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Adept at managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
