The company operates through three core divisions:

Artisan Upholstery

– Reupholstery, furniture restoration and repairs, and custom upholstery

Artisan Bespoke Furniture

– Fully custom, heirloom-quality furniture and headboards

Artisan Drapery & Shade

– Custom draperies, shades, valances, and architectural window treatments

About the Role The Associate Designer is an early-career professional with a formal design education and proficiency in design software. This role manages smaller projects independently while actively supporting Senior Designers and the Manager on larger, more complex jobs. In addition to project design work, the Associate Designer contributes to trade shows, networking, and social media initiatives helping Artisan Interiors build its creative voice and expand its presence in the design community.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Design Execution

Develop complete design packages for smaller projects (e.g., single chairs, sofas, drapery panels, cornices).

Create high-quality sketches, CAD drawings, and digital renderings for client approval.

Calculate fabric yardage, finishes, and hardware specifications.

Translate client needs into actionable design documentation for the production team.

Client & Consultation Support

Participate in client consultations alongside Senior Designers and the Manager.

Present fabrics, trims, and finishes in a clear, professional manner.

Draft proposals, estimates, and post-consultation communication.

Build trust and rapport with clients through professionalism and follow-through.

Material & Vendor Coordination

Source and order fabrics, finishes, and trims aligned with project vision.

Maintain workroom sample library and relationships with vendor reps.

Stay up-to-date on new product releases and material innovations.

Collaboration with Production

Provide detailed project drawings and notes to the production team.

Review project feasibility with the production team before client approval.

Conduct design checks during production to ensure creative intent is realized.

Sales & Business Development Support

Assist in creating proposals and presentations for trade accounts and commercial projects.

Represent Artisan Interiors at trade shows and networking events.

Support business development initiatives by preparing marketing and presentation materials.

Marketing & Social Media Support

Assist with weekly

social media updates and posting

across platforms including:

oInstagram

oPinterest

oGoogle (Business Profile updates)

oYelp

Assist with

website blog content , updates, and basic formatting

Capture behind-the-scenes content of projects, showroom activity, and production work

•Shoot short-form video content and reels using a smartphone (no professional filming required)

Assist with basic video editing, captions, hashtags, and posting schedules

Coordinate with leadership and administrative staff to highlight finished projects, active projects, and brand storytelling

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field.

Basic consultative sales skills , including comfort discussing project scope, pricing, and value with clients in a professional, design-focused manner.

Proficiency in CAD tools (SketchUp, AutoCAD, or equivalent) — ability to produce professional drawings and renderings.

Relevant professional or internship experience in design.

Strong presentation, organizational, and client-service skills.

Interest in both residential and trade/commercial design.

Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Pinterest, Houzz) for design marketing.

Strong computer and technology proficiency.

High-level working knowledge of: Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Word

Microsoft PowerPoint

Fast and accurate typing skills.

Comfortable learning new software and systems quickly.

Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Clear written and verbal communication.

Reliable, punctual, and consistent.

Advancement opportunities include promotion to Designer and Senior Designer based on demonstrated scope of responsibility, technical capability, execution quality, and overall performance. Advancement is not guaranteed and is not based on tenure alone.

Commission Structure

$100,001 and above – 10%

$75,001–$100,000 – 8%

$50,001–$75,000 – 6%

$25,001–$50,000 – 4%

Up to $25,000 – 2%

Commission tiers are evaluated monthly and apply only to revenue collected during the applicable period. Commission is not earned on quoted, pending, discounted, reworked, or cancelled projects. Commission plans, rates, and eligibility may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at the discretion of the company in accordance with applicable law.

Commission, when applicable, is calculated on collected revenue only and on a marginal, tiered basis, meaning each portion of revenue is compensated at the rate assigned to its corresponding tier. Commission eligibility, calculation, and payment are subject to accuracy, performance, and compliance with company standards.

Upon successful completion of the probationary period, Associate Designers may become eligible to earn additional discretionary commission compensation based on the monthly collected revenue of projects they personally manage from consultation through completion. Base hourly compensation continues regardless of commission eligibility.

Associate Designers begin employment with a probationary period of approximately three months. During this period, compensation is paid on an hourly, non-exempt basis in accordance with California wage and hour laws. Commission is not available during the probationary period.
