Job Description What You Get to Do: The Employment Specialist will provide job development, job placement, and on-the-job support to individuals who receive employment and vocational services through Dungarvin's Supported Employment Program in the Eugene/Springfield area. A key responsibility is to assist individuals with disabilities in developing the necessary work skills to help them find and maintain employment within the community independently.
Identify the professional strengths, abilities, goals, and support needs of individuals receiving services
Teach job search skills and techniques including resume development, submitting applications, and preparing for interviews.
Develop and implement strategies to support individuals in excelling in job-related tasks.
Support individuals under employment services contracts with providers such as Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Oregon Department of Disability Services (ODDS) or Oregon Commission for the Blind (OCB).
Establish relationships and maintain contact with employers to identify job opportunities.
Negotiate job tasks and roles with employers on behalf of job seekers.
Submit all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, as assigned.
Qualifications What Makes You a Great Fit:
Six (6) months or more of prior experience working in supported employment is
required
This role involves driving as a fundamental responsibility; a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is
required.
The Employment Specialist may need to transport individuals served.
Previous experience supporting individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD)
A bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or related field is preferred but not required
