The Aquatics and Athletics Facilities Division (AAFD) is seeking a Seasonal Golf Course Maintenance Worker to assist the Golf Course Superintendent and maintenance team with daily agronomy and course maintenance operations. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the overall quality, playability, and appearance of the golf course.

The Seasonal Golf Course Maintenance Worker supports a wide range of agronomic practices, including but not limited to mowing turf areas, trimming and edging, mulching, bunker maintenance, and general landscape upkeep. Additional responsibilities may include operating and maintaining light maintenance equipment, assisting with irrigation tasks, performing course setup duties, and completing routine maintenance assignments as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.

This position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and contributing as part of a team to ensure the course meets established maintenance standards. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to follow directions are essential. Prior golf course or landscaping experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn modern golf course maintenance practices while helping deliver a high-quality playing experience for golfers.

Turf Maintenance & Agronomy Support

Assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent with daily agronomy operations to maintain course conditions and playability.

Perform routine mowing of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other turf areas as assigned.

Trim, edge, and mulch landscaped areas, cart paths, and course features.

Assist with bunker maintenance, including raking, edging, and sand redistribution.

Support basic irrigation tasks such as hand watering, head inspection, and reporting leaks or malfunctions.

Help with course setup, including cup changing, tee marker placement, and course detail work.

Equipment Operation & Care

Safely operate and maintain small turf maintenance equipment and hand tools.

Conduct pre-use equipment checks and report mechanical or safety concerns to supervisors.

Clean and properly store equipment after use to maintain a safe and organized maintenance facility.

Follow all safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines when operating equipment.

Course Appearance & Grounds Care

Maintain overall cleanliness and appearance of the golf course, including debris removal and landscape upkeep.

Assist with seasonal projects such as aeration, topdressing, overseeding, and sod installation.

Identify and report turf health issues, drainage concerns, or course damage.

Safety & Environmental Practices

Work in accordance with established safety protocols and environmental best practices.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Support environmentally responsible practices related to water usage, chemicals, and materials.

Teamwork & Communication

Work collaboratively with the agronomy team to complete daily assignments efficiently.

Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding task completion, equipment needs, and course conditions.

Maintain a professional attitude while supporting overall golf course operations.

Event Support & Other Duties

Assist with course preparation for tournaments, outings, and special events.

Provide additional maintenance support during peak periods or adverse weather conditions.

Perform other duties as assigned to support overall golf course maintenance and operations.

Required

Must have a valid driver's license.

Must be on time and able to work on a designated schedule.

Preferred

Preferred qualifications for the Golf Cart Attendant role at Paint Branch include prior experience in golf course operations, customer service, or a related recreational environment.

Knowledge of golf preferred but not required.

Strong communication skills, a reliable work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting are highly desirable.

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

Work hours This position typically works early morning hours, with a standard schedule of 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to support daily golf course maintenance operations.

The Seasonal Golf Course Maintenance Worker must be flexible, as schedules may vary to accommodate course conditions, peak operational needs, weekends, holidays, and special events. Occasional adjustments to start or end times may be required to meet the needs of the facility.

Working Conditions/Environment This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and sun, while performing physical tasks such as lifting, walking, and operating golf carts.
