Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is a nationwide network of chambers of commerce and economic development organizations advancing the clean energy economy. CICE supports and amplifies the voice of economic leaders and builds the business case for clean energy and sustainability as drivers of economic growth. See www.chambersforinnovation.com .
This is a full-time REMOTE position based in the state of Texas.
Position Description The Southern Regional Director is a key member of CICE’s Regional Team, responsible for cultivating relationships with chambers of commerce and economic development organizations within their region.
The Director works with these organizations by reaching out to develop relationships and educating them on clean energy issues, policies, and technologies, and energy economics and market trends. The Director will work to position chamber, economic development, and business executives as spokespeople and messengers for the economic benefits of clean energy in the region by organizing events, drafting public communications, and working with partner organizations and allies.
This position is supported by a team of seasoned policy, outreach, and communications professionals.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with the Executive Team to determine and implement engagement strategies for Southern states
Outreach to chamber of commerce executives and economic development leaders to build relationships and trust
Educating and engaging chamber and economic leaders on clean energy issues and economic development opportunities associated with clean energy.
Organizing events and meetings with chamber and economic leaders focused on the education and adoption of clean energy policies, programs, and projects
Interviewing chambers to learn about their clean energy efforts and authoring op-eds, reports, or publications highlighting chamber leadership
Attending chamber and economic development meetings and conferences to share CICE’s priorities, positions, and services
Collaborating with the Regional Team on strategies, tactics, best practices, and opportunities for engagement
Coordinating with other business-focused organizations and allies with similar goals
Qualifications
5+years experiencein organizing and outreach, coalition building, or public affairs
Experience working for or with chambers of commerce or economic development organizations
Outgoing, comfortable contacting people you don’t know, and strong at relationship building, especially with the private sector and chambers of commerce
An understanding of the economics, policies,and political sensitivities associated with clean energy
A strong strategic mindset and proven ability to translate strategy into action
Demonstrated experience handling multiple assignments simultaneously
Problem solver, with the flexibility and initiative to work independently and as part of a diverse remote team
Enthusiastic to learn and contributetoadvancing clean energy
Strong writer, with an understanding of the importance of communications and messaging
Bonus points
Experience working in clean energy or on issue campaigns
Understanding of the legislative process
Engagement with the IOM (Institute for Organizational Management) program
