CredLens is seeking a driven, curious Content Writer to support our communications and marketing efforts by helping shape and share CredLens’ public voice as the organization evolves and scales. This is an early-career role ideal for a strong writer who is eager to learn, contribute meaningfully, and grow within a mission-driven, education-focused nonprofit that operates with a startup mindset.

Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, supporting the Communications and Marketing team, and working closely with the senior leadership, product and sales teams, the Content Writer, Marketing & Communications will play a key role in creating, editing and managing content across our external-facing channels including our website, newsletters, blogs, and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate is a curious, coachable writer who enjoys turning complex ideas and data into clear, compelling communications for diverse audiences.

The position offers hands‑on marketing and communications experience in a start‑up environment and the opportunity to contribute to mission‑driven work that supports workforce development, access to education, and economic mobility.

We help credential issuers, funders, policymakers, and workforce partners address critical data gaps that prevent them from fully marketing, improving, and scaling their impact.

Key Responsibilities Content Creation & Marketing Support

Write, edit, and proofread a wide range of external-facing content, including:

Website copy and updates

Blog posts and short‑and medium‑form articles

Email newsletters and campaigns

Social media content

Marketing and sales collateral such as one‑pagers, pitch decks, FAQs, and messaging documents

Support go-to-market efforts by creating and adapting content for product launches, partnerships, and organizational initiatives

Help leverage and apply existing messaging frameworks across materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment

Executive Communications & Thought Leadership Support

Support CredLens’ thought leadership by drafting and editing:

Speeches, presentations, and talking points

Op‑eds, blog posts, and thought leadership content

Briefing materials and summaries for external audiences

Tailor tone, voice, and personality for different executives and audiences, incorporating feedback and iteration

Assist with refining narratives that elevate CredLens’ public presence and credibility

Contribute to the drafting and editing of long‑form reports to include comprehensive details, context, and analysis, impact summaries, and research‑adjacent materials

Help translate complex, data‑informed or technical subject matter into clear, accessible content for non‑technical audiences

Support version control and clarity across evolving documents and publications

Content Management & Collaboration

Help maintain consistency with CredLens’ brand voice, tone, and messaging across platforms

Support content editorial calendars, planning, and asset organization

Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Design teams

Incorporate feedback from senior team members to continuously improve writing quality and effectiveness

Qualifications

Strong writing and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely

0–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, writing or related roles including internships or fellowships

Demonstrated writing experience outside the classroom is strongly preferred (e.g., internships, publications, blogs, nonprofit work, research, or professional projects)

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, public policy, or a related field preferred but not required

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

Comfort receiving feedback and revising work accordingly

Interest in nonprofit, public‑interest, education, workforce, or data‑informed work

Pay Range:

$67,795 - $72,100 a year

plus annual bonus

Location & Travel This position is based in Washington, DC, with a hybrid schedule requiring at least two days per week in the office. Travel is expected to be minimal.
