EVENT MANAGER/SENIOR EVENT MANAGER at Destination Geneva National

This position may be filled at the Event Manager or Senior Event Manager level depending on the candidate’s experience, leadership background, and demonstrated event portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Core Responsibilities (Event Manager Level) Plan, coordinate, and execute weddings, corporate events, and member functions from initial consultation to event completion.
Oversee the entire event planning process, including client meetings, vendor coordination, timelines, and event logistics.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and addressing client needs promptly.
Work closely with the resort’s banquets, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of all events.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and cost efficiency.
Manage budgets for each event, ensuring profitability while maintaining high service standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the planning or execution phases.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations for all events.
Stay updated on industry trends and continually seek ways to enhance the event experience at Destination GN.
Expanded Scope (Senior Event Manager Level) In addition to the above responsibilities, Senior Event Managers may:
Lead high-revenue, large-scale, or multi-day events requiring advanced logistical coordination.
Contribute to strategic initiatives to increase event bookings and maximize revenue.
Mentor and support junior event team members.
Assist in refining event processes, pricing strategies, and service standards.
Develop strong referral networks and cultivate repeat business opportunities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Required for All Candidates Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, or related field — or equivalent experience.
Experience in event management, preferably within a resort, hotel, private club, or high-end venue environment.
Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and solve problems in real time.
Understanding of and respect for the collaborative relationship with catering/banquets kitchen operations.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office.
Experience developing event concepts and proposals, coordinating vendors and suppliers, managing budgets and logistics, and ensuring high-quality execution.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Additional Qualifications for Senior Event Manager Consideration Five or more years of progressive event management experience.
Demonstrated success managing complex or high-profile events.
Experience mentoring team members or providing leadership within an events team.
Proven ability to drive revenue growth and enhance client retention.
