Purchasing Agent
Job Description:
To contribute to the financial success of our organization and efficiency of our service department by managing our procurement process by ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods.
Areas of Responsibilities and Duties: • Source and evaluate supplies based on quality, cost and reliability • Collaborate with vendors to negotiate pricing, terms and conditions advantageous to the company • Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and specifications • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, prices and deliveries • Monitor market trends, pricing and product availability to make informed decisions • Work closely with senior management to address supply chain issues • Update accounting systems to accurately document the receiving of purchased items. This would include inventory quantities or job status systems to alert stakeholders of receipt of needed items • Understand sales tax implications of purchases and implement proper accounting steps to comply with sales tax laws • Understand shipping cost implications of purchases and implement proper accounting steps to properly account for shipping costs • Assist with physical inventory counts when needed
Skills and Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field • 2+ years of relevant experience in trailer parts purchasing • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy record-keeping • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines efficiently
Specific Duties: • Purchase parts for inventory • Purchase specialty items for work in process as needed • Process purchase orders according to accounting and po standard operating procedures.
