About Built From The Block
Built From The Block (BFTB) is a Detroit-based apparel brand founded by Corey Johnson and led operationally by Tammy Black, COO.
Our mission is to build a confidence-driven brand designed for every culture, every body, and every voice.
We are currently preparing for upcoming seasonal product drops (hoodies, T‑shirts, hats) and are seeking a motivated student to support content creation, growth strategy, and brand expansion.
Position Overview The Content & Growth Partner will work directly with the Founder and COO to support marketing strategy, digital growth, and seasonal drop campaigns.
This role is ideal for a marketing, communications, digital media, or business student seeking real‑world brand‑building experience with measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute social media content strategies
Assist with seasonal drop marketing campaigns
Create and manage content calendars
Draft captions and short‑form marketing copy
Support photo and video content planning
Track engagement, reach, and conversion metrics
Analyze campaign performance and provide growth recommendations
Identify potential influencers or community partnerships
Assist with brand storytelling initiatives
Required Skills
Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms
Basic knowledge of social media analytics
Ability to think strategically about audience growth
Strong written communication skills
Organized and deadline‑driven
Comfortable working in a startup‑style environment
Self‑motivated with ability to work independently
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
Experience running or managing a social media account
Basic graphic design knowledge (Canva, Adobe, CapCut, etc.)
Experience with short‑form video editing
Familiarity with streetwear or apparel branding
Understanding of drop‑based marketing
Currently enrolled at Wayne State University
Junior, Senior, or Graduate student preferred
Major in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Business, or related field
Ability to commit 8–12 hours per week
Available to attend virtual or occasional in‑person strategy meetings
