Job Summary / Description Eastern Carolina’s #1 news station, WITN News, is seeking a dynamic journalist and/or meteorologist for the role of CTV anchor. We’re looking for a journalist and/or meteorologist with a dynamic, energetic, and adaptive personality for this role. This person will create compelling, informative, and entertaining content to share with viewers across our livestream and social media platforms. Breaking news situations are where this position will thrive, keeping viewers up to date with the latest information from reporters at the scene and others assisting from the newsroom. It's a position that is constantly evolving in exciting ways as we work to meet viewers where they are and on their device of choice.
Duties / Responsibilities
Providing live hourly news & weather updates at our CTV touchscreen anchor desk
Providing live breaking news updates in collaboration with the newsroom and reporters in the field
Producing and anchoring new & engaging CTV programming
Filling-in/reporting in on-air newscasts
Ensuring tornado warnings are broadcast on our livestream and social medial platforms
Working under strict deadline pressure
Cross-training other employees in the use of the CTV desk
Qualifications / Requirements
Good writing skills
Excellent on-camera charisma
Ability to improvise and fill time during unscripted breaking news situations
Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
Self-starter skills
Knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as content management systems and social media
