
Day Camp Director

Position Overview
Oversee the daily operations and overall management of the summer camp program Organize campers into age-appropriate groups and ensure the effective planning and implementation of engaging daily activities Lead, coach, train, and supervise Group Leaders to ensure high-quality programming, consistent supervision, and compliance with YMCA policies and standards Manage opening and closing operations, including check-in, pick-up, and check-out procedures Ensure the safety, supervision, and proper implementation of all camp programs, including swimming and water activities Maintain accurate daily attendance records and oversee supply expenses, inventory, ordering, and storage Coordinate facility and grounds needs to support safe and efficient camp operations Foster creativity, learning, and intellectual curiosity through intentional activity planning Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with campers, families, staff, and community partners Actively support the YMCA’s mission and community impact by participating in philanthropic initiatives, including engagement in the Annual Campaign to raise awareness and funds Perform other job duties as assigned Requirements
Must qualify for state license (Texas Department of Safety and Health Services or Texas Department of Health and Human Services). Minimum age: 21 years; High School Degree/G.E.D. or higher education. 1 year of previous childcare experience with a bachelor’s degree OR 2 years of full-time experience in licensed childcare with 70 credit hours of relevant training. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, carry at least 30 pounds, and work outdoors. Basic computer skills and excellent communication skills. Positive attitude and ability to serve as a role model for youth. Employee Benefits
