The Senior IT Portfolio Management Specialist in the Insurance Technology segment collaborates closely with business leaders, technology teams, and product stakeholders to ensure alignment between the IT portfolio and overall enterprise priorities. This role involves addressing complex issues that require in-depth analysis of business operations, insurance technology interdependencies, and various organizational, regulatory, and market factors.
This position organizes and prioritizes programs and projects to align with
IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture guidelines, delivery roadmaps, and strategic plans at the segment level . Responsibilities include balancing discretionary and non-discretionary spending (e.g., for regulatory compliance, security, member experience, and operational efficiency), assessing funding against annual portfolio budgets, managing project capacity, adjusting schedules, and securing necessary financial and organizational support for prioritized initiatives. As a critical influencer of departmental strategy, this role drives technology portfolio decisions by assessing business value, platform impacts, customer experience outcomes, and risk management. The Senior IT Portfolio Management Specialist operates with a high degree of autonomy in decision-making regarding technical approaches, project sequencing, and dependencies within various insurance technology ecosystems, such as claims platforms, digital front doors, core administrative systems, and data platforms. This position allows considerable discretion in determining objectives, methodologies, and approaches to assignments. 5+ years of experience in technology, IT portfolio management, IT delivery, or related areas
Experience in
insurance technology ecosystems
(e.g., claims, policy administration, digital health platforms) is strongly preferred
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
Experience in generating portfolio-level metrics, performance dashboards, forecasting views, and trend reports
Proficient in using ad-hoc query tools and data repositories for portfolio and operational data analysis
Passion for contributing to an organization focused on enhancing
member, provider, and associate experiences
Preferred Qualifications MBA or other advanced degree
Six Sigma certification or other process optimization training
Experience in problem analysis, process engineering, or operational excellence in an insurance or healthcare technology environment
Experience generating executive-level metrics, KPIs, and trend reports regarding portfolio performance

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: The compensation range provided below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for a full-time (40 hours/week) position at the time of posting. Actual pay may vary based on geographic location and individual qualifications. $106,900 - $147,000 annually This position is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
