We are looking for a
Mechanical Design Engineer
to design workholding fixtures and mechanical components for CNC metal removal machines and special-purpose equipment. This role works closely with other engineering teams to support projects from design through manufacturing. The engineer will also provide support to manufacturing and service as needed. Responsibilities Design workholding fixtures based on customer part datum, machining process, and cutting forces Design mechanical fixtures and devices using standard mechanical design principles Select materials and understand basic heat treat applications Apply proper component sizing, fits, and tolerances Use and apply GD&T correctly on mechanical drawings Support development of new workholding concepts and technologies Work with Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing teams to ensure designs are understood and buildable Create designs using AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or similar 3D CAD software Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) in the PLM system Release drawings and BOMs for manufacturing and manage design changes Participate in design reviews and communicate project status Support suppliers and internal teams during build and assembly Provide engineering support for service and field issues as needed Maintain basic design documentation and records Follow quality, safety, and environmental procedures Stay current on new tools, equipment, and design practices Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5+ years of mechanical design experience (fixtures, tooling, or machinery preferred) Experience with CNC machining or manufacturing environments Ability to read and create mechanical drawings using GD&T Experience with 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or similar)
