
Director Engineering Maintenance (Wichita)

The Director of Engineering is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and/or completing all activities of the Engineering Department which are necessary in maintaining the safe operation and appearance of all physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems, grounds, and interior. The Director of Engineering is responsible for the annual planning and budgeting for the department. Communicate Engineering activities regularly with department heads and leadership to plan, coordinate, or eliminate any interruption to the guest experience.
Responsibilities Through the use of personnel and materials, develop, implement, administer, and modify Engineering programs that maintain the physical appearance and equipment efficiency of the hotel. Set the standards of professionalism for the department through training, leading, and enforcing departmental and hotel standards. Develop and determine priorities and monitor the status of projects regularly. Provide timely feedback if there are any changes to project statuses. Create and maintain a work environment which promotes teamwork, performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction. Oversee the assigned operational functions within the department, ensuring they are consistent with the strategic direction and vision for the hotel. Establish preventative maintenance schedules and prioritize repair and maintenance work to minimize disruption of hotel operations. Assign daily work in accordance to the urgency. Plans for and oversees major repairs, renovations, and new construction. Serves as the liaison between contractors during construction and implementation. Develops a budget for the department and allocates funds within budget limitations to accomplish objectives. Monitors and reports variance against budget on an ongoing basis. Manages labor and staffing appropriately and within budget for the Engineering and Security departments. Oversees the safety of guests and colleagues through the supervision of the Security Department. Ensures incident reports are completed timely, accurately and professionally. Evaluate, manage, and advise on internal and external risks to equipment, property, guests, etc.
Qualifications Minimum 10 years related experience, with at least 3 years of management experience. Demonstrated experience reading blueprints and leading renovation projects. Strong knowledge of planning and budgeting. Valid Kansas Driver's License. Demonstrated experience in exercising confidentiality and integrity.
Required Skills Extensive experience using Microsoft Office Applications, Outlook, Internet, and other Microsoft Office products. Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Effective oral and written communication skills in order to interact with all employee levels and guests within the hotel. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle conflicting demands. Flexible with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and situations. Solid under pressure, professional and able to maintain composure in handling complaints and other feedback. Ability to meet deadlines without compromise.
Preferred Skills Technical Certificate or Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management.
