Day Camp Director

Work is performed under the direction of Recreation Programs Supervisor. Work includes overseeing all staff and participants of Day Camp. Directors will hold primary responsibility for the overall flow of Camp and should ensure accountability and support for all Day Camp Staff. Directors are responsible for maintaining employees' schedules; completing timesheets; supervising Summer Day Camp Counselors and campers; ensuring safety as their number one priority; developing activity schedules and organizing daily activities for campers; maintaining excellent communication skills to convey camp procedures to parents and campers; maintaining a positive and professional attitude towards co-workers, participants, parents; ensuring cleanliness of office space and general organization of supplies for activities; ensuring proper supplies and activities are available for daily projects; organizes field trips; orders daily lunches; preparing written and oral reports for incidents/behavior issues/Counselor evaluations and performing related tasks as required. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred; experience working with children, experience and knowledge concerning Daycares or Day Camp procedures; experience in planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must attend mandatory seasonal orientation and participate in CPR/First Aid Training. CDL License is encouraged. Complete understanding and ability to follow written departmental policies, knowledge of the practices, methods, and policies used in Day Camp facilities; knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements; ability to hire and train employees; ability to direct and supervise all ages; ability to act quickly and effectively in the case of emergency; ability to effectively communicate and maintain order within small groups; ability to maintain professional relationships with campers, counselors, supervisors, and the general public; ability to swim and have knowledge about pool safety.
