We are seeking an experienced Director, Claims Litigation to join our Claims Litigation team. This role is responsible for the strategic handling and resolution of attorney-represented residential property claims, including complex and mass-litigation matters. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating independently, partnering closely with executive leadership, and providing guidance across the Claims organization.

This position may be filled at a senior level or at a lower level based on experience. Title and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities Independently manage and resolve attorney-represented residential property claims, including complex and mass-litigation matters, within assigned settlement authority and established litigation strategies. Partner closely with the Vice President – Claims Litigation to develop, implement, and execute litigation strategies aligned with Company and client objectives. Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a point of contact for matters directly related to attorney-represented claims. Direct and manage retained outside counsel, including providing litigation guidance, ensuring compliance with strategy, and monitoring legal spend. Evaluate exposure on individual cases and dockets; recommend and seek approval for settlement authority exceeding agreed thresholds. Adjust indemnity reserves based on case assessment, venue considerations, and evolving litigation risk. Draft, review, and critique litigation-related documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, attorney correspondence, releases, and affidavits. Provide technical and strategic guidance to Claims Examiners and leadership on residential property claim issues involving litigation. Assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of departmental policies, procedures, and training initiatives. Train, mentor, and develop Claims staff within the area of litigation expertise. Monitor relevant case law, venue-specific litigation trends, and industry developments impacting residential property claims. Identify operational or litigation-related issues, evaluate solutions, and take appropriate action independently or present recommendations to leadership. Attend depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and trials as required.

Qualifications Required: Must be a licensed attorney. Significant experience handling first-party residential property insurance claims, including attorney-represented matters. Demonstrated ability to manage complex litigation files with minimal oversight. Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Preferred: Extensive residential property insurance experience in states where the Company conducts business, including Texas and/or Florida. Licensed Property & Casualty claims adjuster. Prior experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets at a senior or director level.
