Director of Quality Assurance & Food Safety
. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented quality leader who thrives in a co-manufacturing environment and wants to own the end-to-end quality and food safety standards of a growing national brand.
This individual will be responsible for managing and continuously improving Feel Good Foods’ quality assurance and food safety programs both internally and across all manufacturing partners. The role serves as the primary quality representative for the brand, working closely with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal R&D, Operations, and Leadership to ensure product safety, regulatory compliance, and consistent execution.

What You Will Do
Own and manage the overall Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs for Feel Good Foods across all manufacturing partners.
Establish, implement, and continuously improve best-in-class quality assurance and food safety systems at the brand level and across all manufacturing partners.
Partner closely with R&D and Product to develop and approve product and process specifications, and hold manufacturers accountable to strict adherence.
Oversee production execution from both a quality and sensory perspective to ensure products consistently meet brand standards.
Conduct on-site audits of contract manufacturing facilities to assess food safety systems, QA/QC programs, GMPs, sanitation, allergen controls, and regulatory compliance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for quality and food safety with co-manufacturers, suppliers, and third-party auditors.
Review, approve, and continuously improve HACCP plans, Preventive Controls, SOPs, SSOPs, allergen programs, and environmental monitoring programs.
Lead investigations and root cause analysis for quality deviations, food safety incidents, customer complaints, and non-conformances, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with FDA and USDA regulations, FSMA requirements, and applicable state and federal food safety standards.
Manage certification and compliance programs such as GFCO, SQF, BRC, or equivalent.
Partner with Product Development and Operations to support new product commercialization, plant trials, and scale-ups from a quality and food safety perspective.
Review and approve finished product specifications, ingredient specifications, COAs, and quality documentation.
Monitor plant performance through KPIs, audits, and data analysis, proactively identifying risks and continuous improvement opportunities.
Communicate quality risks, trends, and action plans clearly to internal leadership.
Travel regularly to manufacturing facilities to maintain strong relationships and hands-on oversight.
Your Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred but not required.
7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or Quality Systems within food manufacturing or CPG.
Significant experience auditing food manufacturing facilities and working with contract manufacturers.
Strong understanding of QA/QC programs, HACCP, Preventive Controls, FSMA, GMPs, sanitation, allergen management, and environmental monitoring.
Deep knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations, labeling requirements, and food safety compliance.
Experience with gluten-free manufacturing and allergen control strongly preferred.
Familiarity with third-party certifications such as SQF, BRC, and GFCO.
Proven ability to lead investigations, manage corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and represent the brand externally.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution.
Travel Requirements
This position will be based out of the New York, NY office . Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time to manufacturing facilities.
