As an Estimator, you play a key role in supporting Findorff's preconstruction and bidding efforts across a wide range of project sizes and delivery methods. You are responsible for developing accurate, well-strategized estimates while collaborating closely with owners, architects, subcontractors, and internal project teams. As experience grows, Estimators are entrusted with increasingly complex projects and greater responsibility. Success in this role is measured by the ability to deliver competitive, well-analyzed estimates, support smooth project transitions, and contribute to strong client relationships. Key Responsibilities: Serve as bid captain on assigned projects, managing the bidding process from start to finish
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents for scope clarity, constructability, and risk
Identify and contact prospective bidders using bidding software and direct outreach
Develop bid strategies and delivery approaches aligned with project goals
Coordinate quantity takeoffs, pricing, and estimate development
Schedule, prepare for, and lead internal pre-bid and pricing review meetings
Evaluate bid results and summarize key insights
Lead constructability reviews and scope alignment discussions
Identify and recommend value-engineering options, including alternate systems or materials
Provide cost and constructability feedback to owners and architects
Maintain timely and accurate budget updates aligned with the preconstruction schedule
Develop bid package strategies and prepare supporting documentation
Oversee bidding of construction documents and ensure a smooth handoff to project teams
Utilize historical cost data to validate budgets and refine estimates
Research new materials, systems, and scopes of work and provide cost insights
Serve as a subject matter resource for self-performed work, including SPW estimate reviews
Mentor and support Project Engineers by providing guidance and performance feedback as needed
Collaborate with project management and field teams on cost, constructability, scheduling, and general requirements
Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with owners, architects, and trade partners
Promote transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications: Strong mathematical aptitude with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage responsibilities typically associated with Project Engineer or Project Manager roles
Proficiency with estimating and scheduling tools including OnCenter, Destini, MS Project, and Microsoft Office
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
5-8 years of estimating experience, including bid preparation, cost analysis, and collaboration with owners and contractors
