JOB SUMMARY
The Sports Information Director (SID) is a full-time, 12-month position reporting directly to the Director of Athletics. The SID oversees a comprehensive athletics communications and public relations program and serves as the primary media contact for the University's 12 NCAA Division II sports programs.
This role requires flexibility to work an irregular schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and manage the departmental operational budget
Supervise Sports Information support staff during home athletic contests
Mentor and supervise interns and student assistants assigned sports information responsibilities
Serve as the primary media contact for all varsity sports
Prepare and distribute news releases, feature stories, and game recaps to local and regional media, intercollegiate opponents, alumni, boosters, and other stakeholders
Compile, manage, and report game statistics and results in a timely and accurate manner
Coordinate production of athletics publications, including media guides, game programs, posters, and schedule cards
Ensure consistency in design standards and proper use of athletics logos and brand guidelines
Oversee maintenance and accuracy of the athletics website
Manage electronic media initiatives, including live radio and internet broadcasts of football and basketball games
Assist in securing sponsorships and selling advertising to support athletics media initiatives
Maintain comprehensive historical records, including photography and video archives
Assist with planning and execution of special events such as Hall of Fame Day, Homecoming, and the Athletics Awards Ceremony
Coordinate game day setup and press box operations, including arrangements for media, scouts, officials, statisticians, and other personnel
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Communications, or a related field
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sports information or a related field
Demonstrated excellence in sports journalism and strong oral and written communication skills
Working knowledge of sports statistical software (e.g., StatCrew or similar platforms)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in a related field
Experience with print layout and desktop publishing
Web design and content management experience
Experience in sports broadcasting and multimedia production
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motion tasks
