Help wanted:
First United Methodist Church of Independence, Iowa is seeking a Christian Education Director. The director will provide enthusiastic leadership for a Christian education program. The ideal candidate must be fun-loving and active in an energetic way. They must have organizational and communication skills necessary to develop caring relationships with the children, youth and families of our Church. This position would require weekend work hours, specifically on Sundays.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop a unified educational program of Christian study, nurture and fellowship, particularly to meet the needs of children, youth, and their parents.
Promote Sunday school attendance and develop intentional plans for growth.
Recruit, train and support teachers, especially training new teachers.
Work with the classes in consultation with the pastor to choose curriculum and resources and oversee the ordering and distribution of materials needed.
Satisfactory completion of criminal background check.
Must take course work for Mandatory Reporting and Blood Borne Pathogens
