Shock Wave Aquatics Tupelo is a board-governed, head coach-led nonprofit USA Swimming program seeking an experienced Head Coach / Program Director to lead and grow a year-round competitive team of approximately 100 swimmers.
The ideal candidate has a proven ability to develop swimmers across all levels, build strong staff culture, foster a positive and inclusive environment, and guide the program to continued success at the LSC, regional, and national levels.
Program Overview Shock Wave trains at the Tupelo Aquatic Center, a premier facility featuring:
50-meter Myrtha competition pool with movable bulkhead (20 short-course lanes)
25-yard Myrtha warm-up/recreation pool
Seating for 970+ spectators
Capacity to host major LSC competitions
Primary Responsibilities
Provide vision and leadership for all aspects of the swim program
Design and implement season training plans across age-group and senior levels
Lead senior-level training and oversee all practice groups
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches
Maintain consistent, professional communication with athletes, families, and the Board
Manage meet scheduling, staffing, and hosted competitions
Attend and actively participate in swim meets
Attend LSC functions
Collaborate with the Board on budgeting, strategic planning, and program growth
Qualifications
Current USA Swimming coach member in good standing
All required certifications maintained in compliance with USA Swimming standards
Demonstrated experience in athlete development and team leadership
Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills
Commitment to SafeSport and athlete well-being
Compensation Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include:
