Program Goal The Somerville Community Schools Program provides After School and Out of School Time Care in the Somerville Public Schools. We operate After School programs from dismissal until 5:30 pm including early release days; full day programs during school vacation weeks and during summer. It is our mission to provide high quality, affordable, Out of School Time Care to Somerville children in grades Pre-K through 8.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree preferred
Evidence of five years of successful teaching/summer camp experience
Demonstrated experience as an administrator or supervisor
Ability to travel between programs daily if needed
Responsibilities (commencing March)
Supervise summer staff and all instructional activities
Supervise the maintenance of attendance of students
Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary
Supervise the daily lunch and snack count and maintain supplies and equipment as well as proper distribution.
Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff including bus transportation for field trips and off site activities.
Define and monitor crisis management plan, including emergency procedures
Supervise office procedures, opening-and closing-day procedures for staff and campers.
Assess all summer camp activities and provide recommendations for the improvement of future summer programs
One evening family night event during the last week of the program
Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Community Schools Administrators
Terms of Employment Seasonal/Yearly Employment
Out of Regular School/Work hours
Stipend $5660
Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days:
May 27, June 15, and June 24, 2026 (subject to change)
Program Schedule July 6-August 14
8:15 to 4:15 Monday-Friday
1 position at Healey School
1 position at East Somerville Community School
Reports to Out of School Time Director and Assistant Out of School Director
