The Douglas County Division of Motor Vehicles provides essential motor vehicle services, limited driver services, and issues secure and verifiable identification cards to citizens while collecting revenue for state and local jurisdictions at the direction of Colorado Department of Revenue. Core Services: Disability Placards, Vehicle Titling, Vehicle Registration, and Issue Colorado DLs and ID Cards.
Generally, the hiring range is $45,760-$51,617 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes title applications and issues motor vehicle registrations
Determines types of titles and registrations needed
Calculates and collects appropriate tax and registration fees
Enforces emission, insurance requirements and heavy vehicle use tax when applicable
Verifies accuracy of all documentation submitted and ensures compliance with motor vehicle statutes, rules, and regulations
Understands how fees are calculated and applied
Understands the purpose of temporary registration and the requirements
Communicates daily with the public, dealerships, finance companies, and banks regarding title application procedures, license plate renewals, emission tests, and other motor vehicle issues
Responds to customer complaints and explains statutes or policies and procedures that apply to each situation
Understands and utilizes reference materials.
Effectively provides written and verbal communication to customers regarding fees, reason for rejection of documents, policies, and procedures etc
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned in support of business operations, statutory compliance and department needs
All Clerk & Recorder employees may be required to work in the Elections Division in any capacity that is needed during election cycles
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED Certificate is required
One year of experience in a clerical or customer service field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS May be required to obtain and maintain Driver’s License Certification through the State of Colorado.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
