Job Description: As an Associate Cybersecurity Analyst supporting the Cybersecurity Engineering Operations Team, you'll help maintain, monitor, and support the Cybersecurity Capabilities that protect Southwest Airlines and reduce our cyber risk and attack surface. In this 24/7 environment, you'll partner closely with engineers to assist with ongoing projects, produce clear and accurate documentation, help implement new products and procedures, and coordinate response activities. You'll also support our Agile and ITIL practices, strengthen our monitoring and alerting capabilities, and may contribute to development work in ServiceNow and scripting. You'll play a vital role on the Team our internal customers turn to first for support with Cybersecurity Capabilities, helping ensure their experience remains secure, dependable, and responsive.

This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, Delaware, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming, and Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities

Apply knowledge and skills of analysis, business processes, tools, domains, project methodologies, requirements definitions, and testing to solve a range of problems

Actively monitor security events, logs, and alerts to detect and analyze potential security threats or anomalies

Assist in the organization's incident response efforts by participating in incident identification, containment, or resolution activities

Collaborate in threat intelligence activities, which may include researching emerging threats and vulnerabilities to enhance the organization's proactive security posture

Participate in vulnerability assessments and scanning, assisting in documenting, prioritizing, and tracking vulnerabilities

Support the care and maintenance of security tools, systems, and infrastructure, ensuring their reliability and effectiveness

Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations, standards, and industry best practices within the organization

Contribute to cybersecurity training and awareness initiatives, promoting a cybersecurity‑aware culture among staff members

Work closely with cross‑functional teams, cybersecurity experts, and stakeholders to share information and coordinate security efforts effectively

Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and actions taken. Contribute to the documentation of security processes and procedures

Stay updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, cybersecurity regulations, compliance standards, and cybersecurity best practices through ongoing training and professional development

Assist in the implementation and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the organization's security controls are in place and effective

Communicate clearly in conversation and interaction with others

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to take on multiple assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible work

Knowledge and understanding of core cybersecurity concepts, terminology, common security tools and technologies used in the field

Knowledge of security policies, procedures, and controls within the organization

Skilled in the understanding of network protocols and configurations

Ability to monitor and analyze security events and logs

Skilled in maintaining accurate records and documentation of security incidents

Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate security‑related information

Skilled in assisting with incident response activities and investigations

Ability to identify and address basic security issues and anomalies

Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience Required: Entry‑level experience; basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts, developing skills and knowledge in information technology (IT) operations, programming, systems/software development or another IT related field

Licensing/Certification N/A

Physical Abilities

Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well‑groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be able to travel and / or attend Company and non‑Company facilities and remote locations such as remote‑based offices as necessary

Salary and Compensation Competitive market salary from $73,600 - $81,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
