
Position: Health Economics & Payer Evidence Lead - Early Assets Solid Tumors

We’re currently looking for a Health Economics & Payer Evidence Lead (HEPEL) to be based in our Gaithersburg (US A) to join our Oncology Market Access and Pricing (OMAP) team, supporting our growing early solid tumor oncology pipeline.
The global OMAP team are an experienced team of specialists with many different skills, aligned to a common objective –
we shape the payer environment; create and deliver highly valued market access solutions to unlock the potential of our life‑changing medicines for patients.
This is accomplished by working with R&D, global commercial, local markets, and external partners and experts to ensure that credible and timely evidence and insights are available at every stage of the development and commercialization process.
The job holder will lead the development of payer evidence strategies, applications of health economics methods and approaches and engagement with experts. This role requires an in‑depth knowledge of global HTA and reimbursement requirements (including JCA), payer evidence (e.g. ability to input into clinical trial design and analyses, comparative effectiveness/indirect comparisons), and its strategic application to pharmaceutical development, subsequent market access, and pricing. The role holder is expected to lead these activities for early solid tumor assets including business development working in close alignment with key markets and regions; this will generally focus on initial clinical development plans and for investment decisions for trials with regulatory intent. The job holder will also require strong skills in communication, influencing, business acumen, and effective prioritization.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Develop detailed strategic and tactical planning of payer evidence (e.g., clinical trial design and analysis, economic modelling, evidence synthesis including indirect treatment comparisons) to support market access and reimbursement for assigned projects.
Ensure that the Payer Evidence Strategy & Plan (PESP) is developed and/or validated at each investment decision with key internal and external stakeholders, that it meets the needs of key markets, EU JCA and respective payer archetypes, that it is aligned with the clinical, medical, and brand strategies, and that it is endorsed by all relevant governance bodies.
Develop JCA strategy across indications and assets in partnership with EU region and marketing companies.
Develop health economics and modelling strategies across indications and assets in partnership with regions and marketing companies.
Secure cross‑functional input to the PESP including real world evidence (RWE) and patient reported outcomes (PROs) for payer needs.
Plan budgets effectively and secure resources to deliver the evidence required for patient access as outlined in the PESP. Deliver assigned projects to time, budget, and quality, including the management of vendors as required.
Provide payer relevant evidence requirements into the product development plan, including TPP, Phase 3, RWE/observational studies, integrated evidence plan, and post‑launch data planning (anticipating key payer requirements) ensuring its implementation/delivery and communication.
Drive the brand, policy & publication strategies to support payer needs.
Prepare requests for proposals for outsourced health economics / payer evidence projects and manage the vendor selection process.
Essential requirements
Bachelor’s degree in relevant area, such as health economics or a related quantitative discipline.
3+ years of HEOR experience.
Oncology therapy area experience.
Local or global market access launch experience, having worked at a senior level within a health economic consultancy or several years in a pharmaceutical company (either at a marketing company/local affiliate or global level).
Effective communication skills to different audiences, including both scientific and commercial.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, understand and apply different technical approaches, and have a wide understanding of different HTA systems.
Desirable attributes
Master’s degree (or higher) relevant area.
Global market access launch experience and global payer evidence development experience.
Substantial therapy area experience for the role.
Can demonstrate an in depth and practical understanding of innovative study methodologies, including analyses, that incorporates clinical, medical, regulatory, commercial, payer and HTA needs.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $188,700- $283,000. Hourly and salaried non‑exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short‑term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity‑based long‑term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
