Description:
Business Partnering and Global Category ownership with accountability for strategy development through tactical-level execution for IT categories of spend. Ensures that Business Partner role is an integral component of Global Procurement interaction. This position leads, teaches and directs Sourcing Associates and Sourcing Analysts throughout the Category Management and Strategic Sourcing processes as well as key processes/skills (e.g., spend management analysis, stakeholder management, etc.) Develop, maintain and implement a 3-5 year strategic plan and ensure all projects supporting the strategic plan deliver maximum value. Understand the product lifecycle process, impact on the organization (both short and long term) and knowledge of the global value chain to provide strategic industry insights and identify potential opportunities that may shorten/improve the product lifecycle or integrate opportunities across categories that ultimately lead to a competitive advantage. This position will facilitate continuous improvement and idea innovation that will enable the Business Partner, Category and Functional Leads to achieve strategic objectives.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Key Stakeholder Management/Business Partner Management:
Form a partnership with the Business Stakeholders sharing the ownership and accountability for meeting the agreed upon objective
Bring external insights aligned to business objectives
Category management:
Develop Category Plan to support business objectives and drive the team to meet deliverables as agreed upon in Category Plan
Plan procurement, sourcing and supply strategies
Develop and maintain market awareness
Manage sourcing process directly and through indirect team of sourcing associates
Structure business transactions, negotiate contracts
Work with legal, finance and other cross functional teams to ensure best business outcomes, obtain legal review and approval when required
Resolve complex contract issues with suppliers
Develop financing strategies
Execute Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program as needed
Reports to Director, IT Sourcing
Internal/External Stakeholders
Business unit specific leadership teams
Global Procurement senior leadership team
Members of industry; technology councils and organizations
Qualifications
Minimum of 8-10 years of business experience
Minimum of 6 years of procurement or sales experience
An understanding of information technology concepts;
An understanding of intellectual property concepts (licensing, IP ownership, derivatives, and copyright) general contracting terms, escrow concepts, and the System Development Life Cycle;
An understanding of common software licensing metrics, software licensing compliance and software maintenance and support concepts;
An understanding of the software technologies available in the marketplace and associated licensors;
An understanding of cloud computing service models and trends;
An understanding of the construction of statements of work (time and material, fixed fee, milestones, deliverables and acceptance criteria);
An understanding of typical IT consulting roles (technical architect, application developer, etc.;
Experience negotiating software license, support and maintenance agreements;
Experience leading/influencing individuals/teams and establishing performance expectations;
Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse audience using a variety of mediums;
Project management skills and experience;
Procurement/sourcing process knowledge;
An understanding of financial valuation techniques and concepts including management of working capital, cash flow, accrual accounting and revenue recognition;
Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of R&D and Pharma experience strongly preferred
Project Management Institute PMP certification is preferred
