Hacker Valley Media is a cybersecurity creative media agency that helps unleash the creative potential of cybersecurity brands and professionals through creative content. We produce podcasts, video series, livestreams, and on‑site productions for leading cybersecurity companies. Our flagship show, Hacker Valley Studio, is one of the top podcasts in the cybersecurity space with over 120K subscribers.

The Role We're looking for a contract video editor who is a creative first and an editor second. This is not an assembly‑line role where you follow a template and press export. You'll make real creative decisions about pacing, color, storytelling, and visual style across full‑length episodes, social media clips, and live event content.

You’ll work across our content pipeline from rough cut through final delivery, producing polished episodes and high‑volume social clips that meet our production standards. The right person takes a brief, runs with it, and delivers.

Core Responsibilities

Edit full‑length podcast and interview episodes from rough cut through final delivery using Descript and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Apply consistent color grading across all content. Color correction first, then creative grading for brand consistency.

Deliver clean audio mixes with proper leveling between speakers, noise reduction, and EQ.

Self‑QC all deliverables before submission to our producer. Your work should be ready for review, not in rough shape.

Proactively confirm due dates, communicate progress, and flag timeline risks early so producers can adjust.

Work quickly under pressure without sacrificing quality, make decisive editing decisions, and elevate blocking items so our producers can address them promptly.

Bring creative ideas and visual improvements proactively, new transition techniques, pacing experiments, and visual storytelling approaches.

Stay current with editing trends, tools, and techniques relevant to B2B and cybersecurity content.

Must‑Have Requirements

Expert‑level Descript proficiency:

Every episode starts in Descript. You need to be fast and fluent with transcript‑based editing, rough cuts, and assembly workflows.

Expert‑level Adobe Premiere Pro proficiency:

This is your daily driver for fine editing, color grading, audio mixing, and final output. No learning curve accepted.

Intermediate Adobe After Effects proficiency: Possess a fundamental understanding of After Effects and motion graphics.

Strong color grading skills:

You understand the difference between color correction and creative grading. You can build and maintain LUTs and presets for brand consistency.

Social‑format content experience:

You've produced short‑form vertical and square content before. You know what performs on TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and LinkedIn, and you can reframe and caption efficiently.

Self‑starter mentality:

We are a small team. You take a brief, ask smart questions up front, and then execute without daily direction or constant oversight.

Fast, reliable turnaround:

You can estimate delivery times confidently and hit them consistently. If a deliverable will arrive late, flag it early.

Professional communication:

You are responsive on Slack, clear in your status updates, and proactive about flagging blockers. No disappearing acts.
