Overview
Moccasin Creek Country Club is a private 18-hole full‑service club located in Northeast South Dakota. The PGA professional team is looking to add energetic individuals to enjoy a well‑rounded experience at a top private facility. This is a seasonal position, but could grow to a year‑round team member.
The club hosts 18,000 rounds during a seven month season with 360 golf memberships along with another 275 social memberships and is regarded as one of the finer private clubs in the upper Midwest. Moccasin Creek features a championship caliber golf course, a first‑rate practice range and short‑game area, and a full‑service clubhouse, including two bars, dining and banquet facilities. In 2023 the club completed a $6 million renovation to the entire clubhouse.
The golf shop operations include a full‑service retail shop, club repair, bag storage, and a fleet of rental golf cars. In addition, the Golf Shop operates two year‑round golf simulators. The professional staff is known for providing exceptional customer service, club fitting and lesson expertise, and boasts a large award‑winning junior golf program. The club regularly hosts state championships, and the Dakota Open.
Experience Required Interested candidates must have a love for the game, a love for the business of golf, and the drive to become a Class A PGA professional. You must be able to work well with others in a team environment, have great people skills, a wonderful work ethic, and exhibit exceptional professionalism.
Essential Responsibilities This position will assist the Head Golf Professional with the overall day‑to‑day golf operations including supervising, training, and leading the golf operations team. This person will supervise and manage the total golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and provide professional services to ensure that the members and guests have exceptional experiences that exceed the expectations of a private club. Other essential responsibilities include:
Managing tournaments and leagues
Private and group lessons
Coaching and managing a large junior golf program
Club fitting
Managing and tracking play
Marketing and communications
Merchandising and inventory control
Assist with planning and budgeting the golf operations
Managing outside services team, including golf car operations, practice facility, and club storage
GHIN handicap system management
Club repair services
Player development, including leagues and programming with other departments
Play with a variety of members and in competitive and non‑competitive golf situations
Skills and Traits
Maintain good standing with the PGA
Actively work to complete the requirements of becoming a Class A member of the PGA
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, Rules of Golf, and golf operations
Act as a role model for all team members by demonstrating an outstanding work ethic and behavior
Strong organizational, planning and prioritizing skills
Service and customer focused attitude
Solid written and oral business communication skills
Knowledgeable computer skills
Self‑motivated with the desire to promote, market and stay up‑to‑date with industry best practices
Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations
