
Assistant Produce Manager - Dana Point

The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing daily operations of the Produce Department. This role helps ensure the highest standards of product quality, freshness, merchandising, and customer service while upholding Mother’s Market’s commitment to organic, natural, and sustainably sourced foods. The Assistant Produce Manager leads by example, supports team members, and helps maintain an inviting and well-organized department.
Wage Range $22-$29/hour

Key Responsibilities
Assist the Produce Manager in daily department operations, including ordering, stocking, and merchandising
Ensure produce displays are fresh, attractive, fully stocked, and rotated properly
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation in compliance with company and health regulations
Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting customers with product selection
Train, coach, and support produce team members as directed
Help monitor inventory levels, reduce shrink, and control department costs
Assist with scheduling, breaks, and coverage as needed
Support promotions, seasonal displays, and new product rollouts
Uphold Mother’s Market values related to wellness, sustainability, and community
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in produce, grocery, or retail food service preferred
Supervisory or leadership experience a plus
Knowledge of organic produce and handling practices preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to work in refrigerated environments and varying temperatures
Manual dexterity required for handling produce, stocking shelves, and operating equipment
