DTVA creates both long-form and short-form content spanning traditional 2D, rig-based 2D, CG (preschool), CG (premium), and stop‑motion. What you will do The Color Designer will work directly with the Creative and Production Leadership to create color designs and assets for the series that align to the style and sensibility of the show. We are looking for individuals who can make thoughtful color choices regarding the lighting, environment, tone, and atmosphere of each assigned scene. Responsibilities include:

Working with the Art Director and /or Color Design Supervisor /Lead to implement their visi on of the color design as it pertains to the look, color and style of the series

O btaining c reative approval on all color designs that are created for each episode prior to shipping to the assigned animation service provider

Color designing and maintaining /organizing work as assigned, typically including but not limited to: characters, props, effects , expressions, special poses and size comps

Preparing and organizing the design elements and design element files for the animation service provider for each shipment as it pertains to its assigned episode

Shipping design element files to the animation service provider when requested

Working closely with the b ackground d esigns and p aintings, creating and maintaining consistency regarding the color and design of the series

Collaborating and c ommunicating needs and progress with supervisors and other departments as requested , within the series and Color Design within TVA

Adhering to the production schedule provided by show Leadership to ensure cos t effective and timely production

Utilizing TVA provided Harmony scripts as requested to ensure data and workflow consistency

Converting Photoshop to Harmony files, depending on the series process

Answering questions and problem solving color design related issues that arise with the animation service provider

Performing other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills

Expert knowledge of color and color theory

Illustration or traditional art skills

Knowledge of software including Harmony, Adobe Creative Suite , and 3D technology where applicable

Experienced in the creation of detailed style guides and be comfortable dealing with internal and external departments daily

A broad knowledge of artistic styles and latest animation technology

Ability to align with style and color sensibility of show

Excellent organizational, verbal, written, e-social skills and acumen

Able to work independen tly in a fast‑paced environment

Positive attitude with the ability to be flexible

Willingness to share expertise with crew members and other Color Designers within TVA

Education

Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience

Job Location

This is a fully on-site role based in Glendale, CA.

The pay rate for this role in California is $56.44 o $ 62.11 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
