
Title: Route Sales Professional
Pay: $25.00/hour
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday; 4:00 AM – 1:00 PM (start time between 4:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
Location: Mason City, IA 50401
Overview The Route Sales Professional is responsible for selling, delivering, and merchandising fresh bakery products to retail stores, restaurants, and institutional customers. This role focuses on driving sales growth, maintaining strong customer relationships, executing merchandising standards, and ensuring timely and accurate product delivery.
Job Description
Deliver and sell fresh bakery products to assigned retail, restaurant, and institutional customers
Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support retention and increase sales
Analyze sales data to identify growth opportunities and increase product placement and displays
Execute merchandising standards, including stocking shelves, rotating products, and maintaining freshness
Introduce new products and promotions to customers to increase sales and shelf space
Solicit new customers and generate leads to grow route territory and market share
Maintain accurate inventory counts and place product orders using handheld devices
Complete daily route settlement procedures, including accounting for invoices, product, and payments
Safely operate company delivery vehicles and load/unload products
Maintain DOT logs and complete required documentation accurately and on time
Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures
Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with customers
Required Skills
Strong sales, customer service, and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and make business decisions on assigned route
Ability to analyze sales trends and identify growth opportunities
Strong organizational and time management skillsAbility to safely operate delivery vehicles and meet DOT requirements
Ability to lift 25–50 pounds regularly and perform physical delivery tasks
Basic computer skills and ability to use handheld ordering devices
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card
Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred
3–5 years of route sales, direct sales, or related experience preferred
