Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Must hold or be able to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/bureaus/licensure/how-to-apply/athletic-coach-7-12/) from the New Mexico Public Education Department
Complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport
Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of wrestling and a commitment to ongoing learning
Ability to serve as a positive role model for student athletes
Reports To:
Athletic Director in conjunction with high school principals
Work Environment:
On-site attendance required
Supervises:
Assistant coaches and middle school coaches in coordination with the athletic director and principal
Job Goal:
To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training; foster character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride; and promote social responsibility. Also involves ongoing professional development through clinics and observations.
Responsibilities:
Work with students interested in wrestling, provide practice support, enforce rules and regulations, and conduct evening and weekend practices and competitions.
