
About The Role
We are looking for a venture capital reporter to join PEI Group's welcoming, diverse, and growing team based here in New York City. The successful candidate will cover the dynamic world of venture capital for Venture Capital Journal's website, email newsletters and print publication.
The reporter will focus on the nexus between venture capital general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs), building relationships with VC firms, individual venture capitalists, pension funds, endowments, family offices and other members of the venture ecosystem and innovation economy.
The reporter will consistently write exclusive, insightful and actionable stories that differentiate VCJ from other venture capital publications. They will collaborate with the editor on story ideas, sourcing and story structures to make sure the content is targeted to our core audience of venture GPs and LPs.
The successful candidate will:
Produce at least three articles each week that are consistent with Venture Capital Journal's mission of delivering exclusive news, analyses and feature articles. Develop cover stories and original news and features. Conduct interviews and actively develop relationships with a network sources and readers, including venture capital GPs, LPs and service providers. Use PEI data as a foundation to write insightful data-driven stories. Communicate and collaborate with colleagues across the Private Equity Group as appropriate Attend industry events (PEI and external, in-person or virtual). Depending on experience and topic expertise, participate as moderator or other comparable role at such events. Such activities may include travel. Assist where necessary with aspects of the content production process, including sourcing PEI data and research, optimizing for SEO, and identifying and sourcing images for use with articles (photos, charts, etc). Produce tables and infographics as needed. In alignment with content strategy, use social media, primarily LinkedIn, to amplify content. Potential duties may also include participation in podcasts, videos, etc. This role will involve gaining access to and publishing sensitive and privileged information. The reporter will be expected to understand and adhere to journalistic ethics and consult with editors on any potential conflicts.
