Anacapa Foods, California's premier supplier of frozen strawberries, is looking for a Director of Quality Assurance to join their team onsite in Oxnard, California.
Job Duties: Develop and implement a Quality Assurance System, including GMP's, Sanitation, HACCP, Preventive Maintenance and Quality procedures for the Anacapa Foods facility. Responsible for all on hold products including: Place product, materials and/or packaging on hold as needed. Report all hold orders to the General Manager and verify documentation of each item in the electronic inventory records. Maintain a documented log of all product materials on hold. Responsible for final disposition of materials/product on hold. Customer Relations: Communicate with customers and review all specifications Develop new formulations as needed for customers Submit Certificates of Analysis to customers as required Ship samples as requested Attend customer meetings as requested Train laboratory employees to perform technical evaluations of finished products including specific customer requirements Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program (ATP, swabbing program) Schedule Third Party audits in conjunction with the General Manager Perform an annual review of the following: Standard Operating Procedures, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures, Preventive Maintenance and HACCP programs. Update documentation and programs as needed. Develop corrective actions for the deficiencies Perform annual Mock Recall Keep management informed of technical and scientific developments. Implement improvements to the Quality System as new legislation is initiated. Review all product labels for accuracy with government and customer requirements Comply with Anacapa Good Manufacturing Practices and safety policies Assess employee health and workplace safety (cuts, lesions, and illness). Relocate employees in different production area or send home as needed. Communicate observations and decisions to the General Manager and/or Temporary Agency. Participation in HACCP and Food Safety Committees. Must have ability to work flexible schedule including some holidays and weekends, especially during peak season.
Education, Experience, Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field Minimum of 8 years of experience in Quality Assurance in a food processing environment, frozen strawberries or fruit preferred Certified Quality Auditor or relatable experience Experience developing and maintaining HACCP, GMP, Sanitation, Preventive Maintenance, and Regulatory compliance programs Experience managing and conducting audits Proven ability to develop and implement quality systems and SOP’s
