Executive Director

Dakota Alliance Soccer Club (DASC) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization serving the community of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and surrounding communities. DASC provides competitive and recreational soccer opportunities for children through adult and is dedicated to developing the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and integrity. The club currently has over 4,000 participants.

Overview: DASC is immediately seeking a well-qualified candidate to serve as a full-time Executive Director. Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and serving as the community representative and primary contact for significant issues affecting the development and delivery of DASC’s programs and services. This position reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for advancing the mission, ensuring financial sustainability, overseeing programs and staff, and fostering a positive and inclusive experience for all participants. Work will include a mix of office, remote, and field-based work with some seasonal and weekend commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership and Governance
    • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement DASC’s programming, financial, and strategic plans
    • Regular reporting to the Board on operations, finances, and key performance metrics
    • Assist with development and implementation of effective personnel policies and infrastructure plans for DASC and its programs
    • Develop and maintain key partnerships with area city councils; community park and rec divisions; and youth state, regional, and national soccer associations
    • Ensure compliance with bylaws, policies, risk management standards, and applicable local, state, and national governing bodies
  2. Senior Administrator
    • Oversee all league operations, including recreational, competitive, developmental, and adult programs
    • Ensure consistent, high-quality player, coach, and referee experiences across all age groups
    • Manage facilities usage and ensure all programs have adequate time and space to practice
    • Identify and pursue revenue opportunities including sponsorships, grants, fundraising, and partnerships
    • Develop and manage a $2.5 million budget; monitor financial performance and cash flow; oversee accounting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
    • Direct planning, acquisition, improvement and maintenance of DASC’s property and facilities
    • Attend all board meetings and most committee meetings
  3. Staff Management
    • Lead, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff to include updating staff objectives annually
    • Provide opportunities for staff development, growth and education
    • Support and empower volunteer leaders, coaches, and committee members
    • Foster a positive culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and service
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws, background checks, and SafeSport requirements
  4. Marketing and Fundraising
    • Serve as the public face of DASC to families, sponsors, schools, municipalities, and governing bodies
    • Create and promote marketing, branding, and communications strategies to support registrations, player retention, and engagement
    • Monitor digital communications including website, registration platforms, email, and social media to ensure a clear and consistent message of the DASC strategic vision
    • Identify, pursue, and secure opportunities for grants, sponsorships, donations, and lead a capital campaign to support DASC’s development and programs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, youth sports, or a mission-driven organization with strong financial/accounting and operational management skills and excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution abilities. Experience working with boards, staff, volunteers, and diverse community stakeholders required. Applicants must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a seasonal, deadline-driven environment and demonstrate an ability to plan, organize, and direct comprehensive programs in a successful organization. Applicants should be self-motivated, demonstrate an ability to maintain high morale and enthusiasm, be able to work autonomously, and demonstrate an ability to lead a team of employees and volunteers. Soccer knowledge is ideal but not required.

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, sports management, or a related field with five or more years of professional experience preferred.

Salary: Salary starting at $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a benefits package.
