ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the direct supervision of the Early Outreach and Support Programs (EOSP) Director, the Project Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration and implementation of the Student Support Services (SSS) program. SSS is a federally funded TRIO program supported by the U.S. Department of Education and provides academic, career, and personal support services to eligible first-generation, low-income students, and students with disabilities.
The Project Director is directly responsible for the following duties:
- Oversee the daily operations of the SSS program.
- Ensure timely submission of all required reports and the proper administration of project funds.
- Oversee the development, planning, and implementation of the SSS project.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate project personnel.
- Make final selections of project participants.
- Advise participants and monitor academic progress.
- Oversee the computerized student progress tracking system.
- Collect and organize data necessary for program effectiveness and continuity.
- Communicate program goals and objectives to CSU, Chico faculty, staff, and the broader campus community.
- Coordinate efforts with other TRIO directors and the McNair Scholars Program to streamline student services and optimize outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison with campus departments to coordinate SSS activities and align services across the campus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPLOYMENT STANDARDS
A master’s degree in administration, education, counseling, social work or a related field is required. The following qualifications are preferred:
- A minimum of three years of experience with progressive responsibility in the coordination of SSS or other TRIO programs and/or similar programs within postsecondary institutions or service-related agencies.
- At least one year of experience administering educational projects, including fiscal management and the supervision, training, and selection of personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; exercise initiative and resourcefulness in meeting program needs; reason logically; analyze and evaluate data; and deliver effective verbal and written presentations.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the unique educational needs of first-generation, low-income university students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with SSS students and their families.
- Ability to drive students and staff to occasional field trips and events.
COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must be in possession of valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance. Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) is required. The candidate will be required to update their insurance with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.
