The role
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Director, Brokerage Business Product Development Lead to define and drive the vision, strategy, and delivery of advanced trading and brokerage products. This role will lead cross-functional teams to build and evolve SoFi’s core brokerage platform including order management systems, routing logic, options trading features, margin, portfolio management and risk capabilities. This leader will collaborate closely with engineering, trading, risk, compliance, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes that balance innovation, scalability, risk management, and customer experience.
What you’ll do
- Product Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and articulate a long-term product strategy and roadmap for trading and brokerage products aligned with business goals and market opportunities.
- Define success metrics and product outcomes (e.g. Trading routing logic, order execution quality, trading experience, Portfolio PnL performance and risk management) to guide prioritization and investment decisions.
- Work closely with Technology, Trading Operations, Risk and Compliance, Data Science, and UX teams through the entire product lifecycle — from discovery and business case development to launch and iteration.
- Trading & Core Product Development
- Own product development for trading infrastructure and logic, including smart routing, execution quality metrics, order validation, workflow optimization, and market connectivity.
- Drive enhancements of Order Management Systems (OMS) and integrations with market data, execution venues, and internal systems.
- Shape options trading product strategy, including core functionality, strategy builders, additional levels, risk models, and portfolio analytics.
- Partner with engineering and QA to ensure robust, scalable and compliant delivery.
- Risk, Margin & PnL
- Direct development of margin calculation frameworks, risk management models, and integration of real-time risk data into product workflows.
- Align product features with risk controls and regulatory requirements in partnership with Risk and Compliance.
- Oversee accurate PnL reporting (realized and unrealized) capabilities within brokerage and trading systems.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor's degree, preferably with a combination of Engineering and Finance
- 12+ years of experience in online brokerage, wealth management, online investing, or a closely related business
- Demonstrated experience in developing and launching best-in-class, online investment technologies, products and services.
- Deep technical understanding of brokerage systems.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into business requirements and strategic product outcomes.
- Deep understanding of trading workflows, routing logic, execution quality, market structures, and order management systems.
- Options trading product experience, including strategy builders, advanced trading levels, portfolio management and operational workflows.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to operate cross-functionally in a regulated financial environment, leading and influencing colleagues over whom you have no direct authority.
- Licensing helpful (e.g., Series 7, 57, 99) - current licenses are useful and this may become a requirement post-onboarding
- Excellent written and oral communicator

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
