Seventy years ago, Wayside Recovery, formerly The Wayside House, Inc., began with a mission to improve the quality of women’s lives.
Since then, Wayside has become an expert in delivering gender-specific and trauma-informed substance use treatment and mental health services for women and their families.
Wayside Recovery provides a holistic array of substance use treatment for adult women, including outpatient and residential substance use treatment, recovery support services, adult and children’s mental health therapy, long-term supportive housing, and family support services.
Our vision is that all women, children, and families achieve healing and hope for their future free from the effects of addiction and trauma.
Responsibilities
Be available to clients seeking guidance or support, as well as responding appropriately to identify needs.
Transport clients to appointments, meetings, etc.
Supervise client activities.
Respond to emergencies and effectively manage crisis.
Record pertinent client data.
Monitor health needs of clients and supervise clients in self-administration of prescribed medication.
Assist with tasks associated with clients arriving and leaving Wayside.
Collect urine specimens for drug screens.
Complete required paperwork for admissions and discharges.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
High school diploma/GED required.
18 years or older.
Adult and child CPR – training provided if needed.
Microsoft office/outlook experience.
Knowledge and/or experience in the field of substance use disorder and/or mental health.
Must be able to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Must be able to pass a Minnesota DHS background study.
This position may require work at alternative Wayside sites should staffing patterns require it.
A Valid Driver’s License clear of major violations for the last three years and must pass an MVR.
Must value diversity and be able to relate and enjoy working with clients and children of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Qualifications & Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organizational and excellent computer skills are essential.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work on multiple tasks.
Ability to relate to women of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive in an effective manner.
Experience working with families or pregnant and parenting women preferred.
Experience working in a 24-hour behavioral setting preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Must be able to climb stairs.
Required Qualifications
Have a minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorder.
Hold a current credential from the Minnesota Certification Board, the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders, or the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors that demonstrates skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support.
A recovery peer who receives a credential from a Tribal Nation when providing peer recovery support services in a tribally licensed program satisfies the requirement in paragraph (a), clause (2).
A recovery peer hired on or after July 1, 2024, must not be classified or treated as an independent contractor. Beginning January 1, 2025, a recovery peer must not be classified or treated as an independent contractor.
A staff member with direct contact must be free from problematic substance use for at least 1 year as a condition of employment.

Retirement plan: Employees who are 18+ years old and work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate upon hire and eligible for the 4% match after 1 year of employment and must be 21+ years old and work 1000 hours in the calendar year.
